Disney XD is taking Gamer’s Guide To Pretty Much Everything to the next level. The cable net said today that it has ordered a second season of the live-action comedy starring Cameron Boyce as a teenage pro-gaming phenomenon whose thumb injury forces him off the elite pro gaming circuit and back to public school. Production on Season 2 starts in the spring in Los Angeles for a 2016 bow.
Disney XD said Gamer’s Guide scored the No. 1 debut among boys 6-11 in the network’s 15-year history and thus far ranks as its No. 2 live-action original series ever among the target boys 2-11 and 6-11 demos. It was created by Devin Bunje and Nick Stanton, who also serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Jim O’Doherty.
When Conor goes back to school, he is reunited with the three former gamer friends (Murray Wyatt Rundus, Felix Avitia and Sophie Reynolds) he left behind for life on the pro tour and quickly realizes that restoring his friendships is vital in his quest to “level up” to his former glory. In Season 1, they formed their high school’s first-ever gaming league. In Season 2, the team sets its sights on a global championship, and the foursome will face new challenges and new rivals along the way.
