Disney Channel First-Half 2015: TV Show Rankings

Disney Channel was at its lowest in fall of 2014. However, now in the first-half of this year, they slowly rose up from the low ratings. The network still gets lackluster ratings many times, but the total viewers is boosting and smoothly coming above 2 million viewers. Disney Channel has done a great job getting much better ratings so fast and is over showing Nickelodeon who is at rock bottom currently averaging from 1.0-1.4 million viewers, a point Disney Channel has fortunately never reached. Here are the TV show rankings from January 9, 2015 - July 31, 2015:

1. K.C. Undercover

KC Undercover gave Disney Channel the best ratings in a long time with a comedy when it premiered on January 18th with 3.5 total viewers. The show has averaged in 2.45 ratings for the episode its premiered. The first season is scheduled to have 29 episodes with a second season already ordered.

2. Liv & Maddie

Liv & Maddie has hard a great second season. The comedy is the most popular show on the network this summer staying on top of 2 million viewers as well as gathering a solid fan base. The show's lead, Dove Cameron, also has starred in the DCOM, Cloud 9, and the upcoming Disney Channel event of the year, Descendants. This year the series averaged at a 2.32 rating. It's most recent episode, Frame-A-Rooney, part of Disney's Whodunit weekend gained 2.53 million viewers and was the highest rating of the special weekend despite its late 9:30 time slot. The third season began production in June and will premiere sometime this fall.
(Opinion: I wouldn't be surprised if Liv & Maddie got the rare fourth season.)

3. Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World was ranked #1 last fall on 2014 second-half list. It has been the only show on Disney Channel that has consistently never had ratings below 2 million viewers. Sunday nights (KC Undercover, Austin & Ally, Liv & Maddie, etc.) are usually more popular that Friday nights (Jessie, Dog With a Blog, I Didn't Do It, BUNK'D, etc.), but Girl Meets World meets the limits to overthrow its Friday night company and top Sunday night's episodes. The show has an average of 2.27 million viewers. Blanchard and Carpenter, the show's stars, continue to grow their social media status in the industry as Carpenter released her debut album and Blanchard has been giving inspiring speeches across the United States. Blanchard is also the new Danimals endorser along with Disney XD actor, Jake Short.

4. Austin & Ally

Austin & Ally has remained a hit ever since 2011. It has beat out the channel's top successor Jessie this year with an average rating of 2.13 million viewers. This season continues to follow the four buds back together for one last year of high school as they prepare to figure out what to do with their lives and resumes boosting the career of Ally Dawson while Austin Moon is eager to make music again. Meanwhile, Trish's managing agency garners a boy band, Boynado, and Dez returns from film school only to reveal he is no longer with Carrie.

5. Jessie

Jessie is ending this year along with Austin & Ally, but Emma, Zuri, and Ravi have just began their adventure with their spinoff, BUNK'D. The pilot garnered 4.24 million viewers, better than previous series premiere for Best Friends Whenever. Jessie has had an unfortunate drought this year in rating. The consistency of Season 1 to 3 has stopped this season with a 2.02 average rating. The ratings are great for Disney Channel now, but is lackluster compared to Jessie's early ratings. However, the show remains a fan favorite. No doubt the series finale with gather big ratings.

6. I Didn't Do It

I Didn't Do It was #6 on last year's list and although it was the last spot, it has improved the ratings this year. With an average of 1.94 ratings, this season has impressed more viewers with its friendships rather than the Season 1 flashback technique that was later abandoned in Season 2. The show was recently moved from Sunday nights to Friday nights in July. Its past two episodes have gotten 1.79 and 1.90 viewers respectively. An announcement for Season 3 is expected early this month. Its 19-episode current season has 6 episodes left and will go on to run until this November.

7. Dog With A Blog

Dog With a Blog has always been a fan-favorite and personally my favorite of the Disney Channel. However, this season has seemed to not be popular with the viewers. Dog With a Blog has remained the lowest show on Disney Channel from the start of Season 3 because of its rareness to get above 2 million viewers. Its one hour special this May got 2.19 million viewers, the rating Girl Meets World and KC Undercover get for their half hour episodes. The show has unfortunately been cancelled and will conclude this September with a one hour special. The next episodes airs on August 7 at 9:30/8:30c.

8. Best Friends Wherever

Best Friend Whenever premiered to 3.54 million viewers following Teen Beach 2. We've only premiered 4 episodes and that's why it is at the end of the list. 3 of the 4 episodes has been above 2 million viewers with an average of 1.99 million viewers. The show has done exceptionally well so far.
